Have not seen that bug before... Is this on an Intel Mac or PPC? Do you know what application was use to unzip and un-hqx the applications on your system?

I have PPC- PowerMAC QS 867. I use to unzip SPi-V_viewer_OSX.zip (468kb),SPi-V_spotter_OSX.zip (716kb).
Add - 10.1.1.016Shockwave_Installer_Full.dmg from Adobe.
Sample from SPi-V_engine.zip work well!

Oh, a G4 "Quicksilver", nice.
Do you have OS X 10.3 or 10.4? I guess you unzip with double clicking on the ZIP file, right? That way you use the integrated BOM Archive helper tool. A good alternative is CleanArchiver (search for that on versiontracker.com) and OpenUp.
Sometimes Apple's tool has problems with compressed files that other tools can unpack easily.

MAC OS 10.4.10
I download OpenUp and CleanArchiver.
CleanArchiver only archiv tool, no unarchiv.
OpenUp unzip file SPi-V_viewer_OSX.zip
But not unarchiv SPi-V.hqx
I have no problem unarchiv all this files with The Unarchiver. I can't run SPi-V application (and Spotter). After run this apps I see alert (screenshot).

Yes! In is The Unarchiver bad un-hqx. After un-hqx SPi-V.hqx - SPi-V -116kb ( right 416), Spotter.hqx - Spotter-72kb (right 892).For hqx I use Staffit Expander. I don't like it. What unarchiver app. you advise fo me?

Oddly, I use The Unarchiver as well (because I have a similar dislike towards Stuffit), and it works fine for me. Perhaps we are using different versions?
Incidentally, doesn't the 'BOMArchive helper' do hqx files? Is it listed when you command-click the hqx file?

Oh! I use The Unarchiver 1.1! I download 1.6 it's work ok!
