SPi-V roadmap

Listed below are some of the things that I am working on and planning for future versions of the SPi-V engine.

  • 1.0 (released)
    • Inital released version
  • 1.1 (released)
    • Shockwave 8.5 support
  • 1.2 (released Jan 22nd)
    • Updates for reusable components
    • Updates for meter and ramp nodes
    • Updated licensing scheme
    • Extensibility using Director MX 2004
  • 1.3
    • The black lines issue
    • Improved support for partial panoramas
    • Dynamically loading/unloading nodes
    • Preview layers
    • Preloading scene resources
  • 1.4
    • (Directional) sound support
    • Preliminary animated texture support

Version 1.2, which is slated to be released 'real soon now', will coincide with a long overdue documentation update.

Additional big news is that I am working on supporting QuicktimeVR files. While I previously said that SPi-V isn't likely to gain qtvr support natively, I am working on a server-side solution that will convert a Quicktime VR mov to a SPi-V XML file on the fly. The only requirement for the server will be support for php.
